Harry Bertoia Sculpture
The Kresge Chapel at MIT is a windowless space that relies on various techniques of internal lighting to create a spiritual environment. Harry Bertoia's shimmering, golden screen rains down from the central skylight, invoking the effects of water and the cosmos, regardless of one's religious background. The source of light is deliberately obscured, resulting in a glittering, illuminated connection between the external sky and the chapel's central platform.
